Accident Help Network legal information

Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, retain, and disclose personal information when you use our California-focused accident-intake service.

Last updated: September 5, 2026

Effective date: September 5, 2026

Accident Help Network respects the privacy of people who use our website or complete an accident intake. This Privacy Policy describes how Accident Help Network (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, retains, and discloses personal information.

Accident Help Network is a technology and marketing intake platform. We are not a law firm, do not provide legal advice, and do not guarantee that you have a claim, that an attorney or law firm will contact you, or that any attorney or law firm will represent you. Submitting information through the service does not by itself create an attorney-client relationship.

This Policy is intended to be read with our Terms of Use and Legal Disclosures. It is not a consent to receive calls, texts, emails, or other communications, and it is not an authorization to share an intake with an attorney or law firm. Those choices, if offered, are presented separately in an intake notice.

1. Scope and California-focused service

This Policy applies to personal information we collect through our website, accident intake, support communications, and related services. The service is designed for accidents that occurred in California.

We do not ask you to provide information that is not reasonably needed for the service. Please do not submit highly sensitive documents or information unless the intake specifically asks for it and the applicable disclosure permits it.

3. Sensitive personal information

Information about injuries, medical treatment, certain accident-location details, and some submitted materials may be treated as sensitive personal information under applicable California law. We use and disclose sensitive personal information only for the purposes described in this Policy, the intake notice, and any other applicable notice or authorization.

4. Sources of personal information

We may collect personal information:

  • directly from you when you use the site, complete an intake, contact us, or upload materials;
  • from your parent, guardian, or authorized representative when they submit information on your behalf, if that workflow is permitted; and
  • automatically from your browser, device, cookies, local storage, logs, or similar technologies, if configured.

We do not state that we obtain information from any source unless that source is actually used.

5. How we may use personal information

We may use personal information to:

  • provide and administer the website and accident-intake service;
  • verify that a request relates to an accident in our service area and administer a submitted request;
  • manually review an eligible intake and, only when the applicable sharing workflow applies, facilitate a potential connection with a participating California law firm;
  • communicate with you about your intake, support request, or preferences only as permitted by the applicable notice, authorization, and law;
  • maintain records of intake disclosures, authorizations, requests, and service activity;
  • protect the service, investigate suspected fraud or misuse, and maintain security;
  • comply with legal obligations, respond to lawful process, and enforce our terms; and
  • measure and improve the service only through verified, disclosed tools and practices.

We do not use your information to provide individualized legal advice or to decide that you have a legal claim. We do not use automated decision-making, automated matching, or automated lead routing. The current operating posture is manual owner-controlled review and assignment only.

6. When we may disclose personal information

We may disclose personal information only as described below and only to the extent supported by the service and applicable law:

  • Participating California law firms. If the intake workflow and applicable authorization permit it, we may manually provide relevant intake information to a participating California law firm, and where applicable its authorized personnel, so the firm may decide whether to contact you or evaluate a potential consultation. We do not promise that any submission will be shared, reviewed, accepted, or result in representation.
  • Service providers. We may use service providers to host, maintain, secure, support, or measure the service, subject to contracts and access controls appropriate to the verified role.
  • Legal, safety, and business reasons. We may disclose information when required or permitted by law; to protect rights, safety, or security; to investigate misuse; or in connection with a business transaction, subject to applicable law.
  • With your direction or authorization. We may disclose information when you direct or authorize us to do so through an approved workflow.

Once a participating law firm receives information, it is an independent organization. Its handling of that information is governed by its own privacy practices, professional responsibilities, and any notice it gives you. Accident Help Network does not control an independent firm's later use, retention, security, or response to privacy requests.

7. Communications and attorney contact

The service may offer separate choices concerning (1) sharing an intake with a participating law firm and (2) communications from Accident Help Network and/or an identified or identifiable law firm about that intake. A privacy policy does not replace any required consent or authorization.

If we offer calls, text messages, emails, or attorney or firm contact, the intake uses separate language that identifies the relevant sender(s), communication method(s), purpose, consent status, and opt-out instructions as applicable. You are not required to agree to marketing communications as a condition of using the service unless a lawful and clearly disclosed exception applies.

8. Cookies, analytics, advertising, and Global Privacy Control

We may use strictly necessary cookies or similar technologies to provide the site. We may also use analytics, measurement, advertising, or similar technologies only if they are configured, permitted, and disclosed in a cookie or technology notice.

We do not state that Accident Help Network does or does not “sell” or “share” personal information under California law unless that statement is accurate for the service. Until the applicable cookie and technology review is complete, this Policy does not state whether or when the service honors Global Privacy Control or other opt-out preference signals.

9. Retention and deletion

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including administering an intake, maintaining required authorization and security records, resolving disputes, enforcing agreements, and meeting legal obligations. The appropriate period may depend on the information's type, the status of the intake, the purpose of collection, legal requirements, and whether deletion is technically feasible.

If you request deletion, we will process the request as required by applicable law and our procedures. Deleting information from Accident Help Network does not necessarily delete information already received and retained by an independent law firm; you may need to contact that firm directly about its records.

10. Security

We use safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, use, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. California privacy choices and requests

California residents may have privacy rights concerning personal information, subject to applicable law and exceptions. Depending on the request and the law that applies, these rights may include the right to request information about collection, use, or disclosure; access; correction; deletion; limitation of certain uses of sensitive personal information; and opt-out choices regarding certain data uses.

To make a privacy request, contact us at team@accidenthelpnetwork.madethis.app. Please describe your request and provide enough information for us to verify it.

We may verify a request by asking for information reasonably necessary to confirm identity and authority. We will not require more information than reasonably necessary for that purpose. An authorized agent may submit a request where permitted by applicable law; we may ask for written permission and may verify the person's identity directly.

We will respond to verified requests within the time required by applicable law. If we deny a request in whole or in part, we will explain the basis as required by applicable law and provide an appeal method where applicable. To appeal, contact us at team@accidenthelpnetwork.madethis.app.

We will not discriminate against a person for exercising privacy rights in a manner prohibited by applicable law.

12. Minors, parents, guardians, and authorized representatives

The service is not intended to invite a child to submit personal information independently. If information about a minor may be submitted in connection with an accident, it should be submitted only through a parent, guardian, or other person with authority to act for the minor, using an approved process.

If you believe a minor submitted information without appropriate authority, contact us at team@accidenthelpnetwork.madethis.app so we can review the request under our procedures and applicable law.

13. Third-party links and independent services

Our site may link to third-party websites or services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. This Policy does not apply to an independent law firm's website, client portal, or later communications with you.

14. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when our practices, services, or legal requirements change. We will post the updated Policy with a revised effective date and, for material changes, provide any additional notice required by applicable law or our change-notice process.
